NEW YORK (AP) – Guards Larry Wright and Mike Cavataio will transfer from St. John’s to other schools following the spring semester.
Red Storm coach Norm Roberts said Monday that Wright, who averaged 9.1 points in 18.9 minutes as a sophomore last season, announced his intention to transfer because of the recent discovery of an illness involving a member of his immediate family.
Cavataio played in 17 games as a freshman rookie last season, averaging 1.4 points in 5.9 minutes. He indicated he was transferring for the possibility of more playing time.
St. John’s finished 11-19 overall last season and 5-13 in the Big East, failing to qualify for the conference’s postseason tournament.
