VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) -Freshman forward Bryan Bouchie has been granted a release from Valparaiso and will transfer to another school.
The 6-foot-11 Bouchie played in all 36 games for the Crusaders last season and averaged 7 points and 3.3 rebounds.
``I think for myself and my family it is a better choice for me to pursue my career somewhere else,'' Bouchie said. ``I'm looking to move closer to home.''
Bouchie was a third-team All-State selection last year at Washington High School in southern Indiana and was a member of the Hatchets' Class 3A championship team in 2005. His father, Steve Bouchie, was the state's Mr. Basketball in 1979 and played college ball at Indiana.
The younger Bouchie had a college career-high 23 points in a win over Maryland-Eastern Shore last November.
