MILWAUKEE (AP) -Star guard Dominic James had good news for Marquette fans at the basketball team’s awards banquet Thursday night.
James told the crowd of 500 at the Alumni Memorial Union that he will return for his senior season rather than making an early entry in the NBA draft.
The decision provides a boost for Buzz Williams, who was introduced Tuesday as the new coach of the Golden Eagles.
Williams replaces Tom Crean, who left last week to become coach at Indiana.
James’ fellow guard Jerel McNeal also has been considering an early entry in the draft, but there was no announcement from him Thursday night. McNeal received the team’s most valuable player award after averaging 14.9 points a game.
