STORRS, Conn. (AP) – University of Connecticut and state police say they arrested 27 people after the Huskies won the national basketball championship.
The arrests on Monday night and early Tuesday were mostly for vandalism, but others were accused of breach of peace, inciting a riot, criminal trespassing and interfering with a police officer. Twenty-four of the arrests occured on campus, and of those 10 are UConn students.
Star guard Kemba Walker, coach Jim Calhoun and the rest of the team will be welcomed at a victory rally at Gampel Pavilion later Tuesday.
The Huskies defeated Butler 53-41 Monday night in Houston and will arrive mid-afternoon at Bradley International Airport.
