INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Several thousand fans broke into cheers inside Hinkle Fieldhouse as they watched on four big-screen televisions while Butler beat Michigan State 52-50 in the Final Four.
The historic venue is home to the Bulldogs and just a few miles from the Final Four in Indianapolis. In a sea of Butler shirts, pompoms and “Go Dawgs” signs, some fans predicted the celebration wouldn’t stop anytime soon.
Indianapolis resident Deb Barrick said Saturday the energy inside the fieldhouse was “the next best thing to being there.”
Car horns sounded throughout the parking lot as fans poured outside. Butler sophomore Jeremy Reagin said the party would go on until at least Monday night, when Butler plays in the NCAA championship game.
