INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Bobby Plump is the guy who hit the game-winning shot in the 1954 Indiana state championship game, immortalized in the movie “Hoosiers.”
The real-life Jimmy Chitwood led tiny Milan past Muncie Central that year. But he was also an all-conference guard at Butler – and for the first time in years, people care about his days in blue and white.
This year’s Bulldogs will play Michigan State on Saturday in an NCAA semifinal. The 73-year-old Plump says his alma mater can win it all if they play they way they have throughout the NCAA tournament.
Butler is on a 24-game winning streak.
