HOUSTON (AP) – The NCAA has gone through a rough stretch of scandals and rules violations recently, from the Fiesta Bowl firing its CEO to Auburn football players saying they were paid while playing or being recruited at the school.
NCAA president Mark Emmert doesn’t like the negative attention, saying the misdeeds of a few schools besmirches the reputation of the schools that do play by the rules.
He does see a positive, however, to all the negative news – if schools are getting caught, it means the NCAA is doing its job.
