SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. (AP) -Proclaiming a new era in its program, Seton Hall has introduced Kevin Willard as its men’s basketball coach.
He was introduced Wednesday at a news conference where the university also introduced Anne Donovan as its women’s basketball coach.
Willard replaces Bobby Gonzalez after resurrecting the Iona program in a three-year stint. Gonzalez’s 19-win final season was beset by problems involving the players on and off the court.
Willard said the trademark of his program will be character, focus and hard work.
He might face a difficult first season because forwards Jeff Robinson and Herb Pope and guard Jeremy Hazell have all indicated they want to enter the NBA Draft. Willard said they would be welcome to return if they opt out.
