INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The Butler Bulldogs have received a royal send-off for their second straight Final Four trip.
Hundreds of fans were lining the hallways of Hinkle Fieldhouse and dozens more braved snow flurries to get autographs or snap photos of their favorite players as the team buses were loaded Wednesday. The itinerary calls for Butler to fly from Indianapolis to Houston for Saturday’s semifinal against Virginia Commonwealth.
The Bulldogs have never seen anything quite like this when they were leaving town – not even for the first Final Four trip in school history.
Back then, they were the tourney darlings playing just six miles from campus.
