EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) – Hundreds of Michigan State University students and fans have gathered outside an off-campus apartment complex to celebrate the Spartans’ victory over Louisville that advanced them to the Final Four of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
MLive.com (http://bit.ly/1a8rNYU ) says that East Lansing police arrested at least three people Sunday evening and there was a small fire in the street nearby.
The gathering is in the Cedar Village area, site of many disturbances over the years linked to Michigan State sports performances. Many police were deployed in the area Sunday.
Michigan State is holding a celebration and welcome home rally Sunday night at Breslin Center, its home basketball venue. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.
The Spartans beat Louisville 76-70 in overtime to advance to the Final Four for the first time since 2010.
