BOSTON (AP) -Pittsburgh starting guard Jermaine Dixon missed about 11 minutes of the second half of the East Regional after a Villanova player fell on him as they went for a loose ball Saturday.
Dixon left the game just 16 seconds into the half and returned with less than nine minutes to go.
The play occurred near the Panthers’ basket when Dixon and three Villanova players went to the floor for the ball. Shane Clark landed on his left leg and Dixon was replaced by Brad Wanamaker with Pitt leading 34-32.
Dixon had two points in the game, both on free throws, when he left. The junior entered the game averaging 8.5 points and 2.6 rebounds per game this season.
