OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Oregon coach Dana Altman says Creighton wouldn’t have been his first choice for an opponent in the College Basketball Invitational championship series.
Altman had 11 straight 20-win seasons and seven NCAA tournament appearances in 16 years at Creighton. He left the Bluejays last April to take the Oregon job.
The series begins in Omaha on Monday night. Game 2 will be Wednesday in Eugene, Ore. If Game 3 is necessary, it will be in Eugene on Friday.
Altman’s former players say it will weird to see their old coach on the other bench.
Altman says he’ll be uncomfortable, too. He says he’ll feel terrible if Oregon loses, and he might feel just as bad if Oregon wins.
