ST. LOUIS (AP) -Its star player on the bench, Michigan State has gotten through by getting everyone involved.
Once so reliant on Kalin Lucas, the Spartans have spread the load around since the junior point guard ruptured his Achilles’ tendon in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Korie Lucious has filled Lucas’ spot admirably, barely blinking at the pressure thrust upon him. The swaggering sophomore hit the game-winning 3-pointer against Maryland after Lucas got hurt, then a whirling turnaround jumper late in a win over Northern Iowa.
Durrell Summers also has picked up his scoring, while players like Draymond Green and Delvon Roe have increased their contributions.
The collective effort has Michigan State one game from another Final Four.
