NEWARK, N.J. (AP) – Kentucky has been making headlines during the NCAA tournament largely because of their freshmen. Doron Lamb has been outstanding from the perimeter and Brandon Knight has already made a pair of game-winning baskets.
When the Wildcats face North Carolina for a spot in the Final Four on Sunday, it could be the veterans around them that provide the key to victory.
Senior Josh Harrellson has been outstanding the past couple weeks, and juniors DeAndre Liggins and Darius Miller have also chipped in for the Wildcats. They’re a big reason they’ve knocked off Princeton, West Virginia and top-seeded Ohio State to reach the round of eight.
Coach John Calipari says this team belongs to the upperclassmen, a rarity for a coach who often lands the best freshmen in the country.
