FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Mike Anderson has made his return as Arkansas’ basketball coach.
Anderson spoke to about 5,000 Razorbacks’ fans in Bud Walton Arena on Saturday, appearing publicly for the first time since leaving Missouri on Wednesday.
Anderson was an assistant at Arkansas for 17 seasons under Nolan Richardson.
Anderson interviewed for the job in 2002 following Richardson’s firing by then athletic director Frank Broyles. He was passed over in favor of Stan Heath and went on to coach for four seasons at Alabama-Birmingham before taking the Missouri job five years ago.
Anderson’s contract at Arkansas is for seven years and $2.2 million annually. Missouri had offered him $2 million a year.
