SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) -West Virginia coach Bob Huggins is one step away from his second Final Four.
The second-seeded Mountaineers face top-seeded Kentucky on Saturday night in the East Regional final. Huggins’ 1991-92 Cincinnati team lost in the national semifinals to Michigan, 76-72.
The 56-year-old Huggins, born and raised in West Virginia, has a contract that will keep him at his alma mater until he’s 65. He has 669 career victories in 28 seasons and is back on top after being fired at Cincinnati five years ago.
The Mountaineers have won a school-record 30 games this season under Huggins.
