COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -When Northern Iowa crumpled up and tossed America’s brackets in the trash by knocking off top-seeded Kansas last week, it figured to benefit someone.
The Ohio State Buckeyes, the next-best seed in the Midwest Regional, hope it works to their advantage somewhere down the road.
For now, however, they have their hands full with Tennessee in the round of 16 on Friday night in St. Louis.
The Buckeyes say they didn’t celebrate Kansas’ loss so much as learn from it; after all, if the Jayhawks could go down, why couldn’t they?
A team that has seldom strayed in focus for the past two months now has its sights set on the Volunteers. The Buckeyes will worry about the next round when the time comes.
