TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – San Diego State seemingly tried everything it could to lose to Temple in the NCAA tournament.
The Aztecs got by with their athleticism, but better get straightened out quick with Connecticut and dynamic guard Kemba Walker up next.
San Diego State (34-2) won its first NCAA tournament game in seven tries by rolling over Northern Colorado on Thursday. The Aztecs had a much tougher time against the Owls in Saturday’s third-round game, thanks to a slew of ill-conceived passes and shots.
San Diego State made just enough plays – most on defense – in the second overtime to get the seven-point win and move on to the round of 16 on Thursday against UConn in Anaheim, Calif.
