SALEM, Va. (AP) -Sean Wallis scored 11 straight points in a 16-0 run as defending national champion Washington of Missouri broke open a close game and beat Guilford College 77-58 in the semifinals on the NCAA Division III national semifinals.
Washington (28-2), located in St. Louis, had seen its 11-point second-half lead cut to five before Wallis scored on a reverse layup and then hit three consecutive 3-pointers in a span of just 1:19. Aaron Thompson added one of his eight 3s and Tyler Nading scored inside to finish the run, which out the Bears up 62-41.
Clay Henson hit five 3-pointers and led Guilford (25-6) with 23 points. The Quakers were making their first appearance in the semifinals, and the Bears’ were in their third straight.
Thompson scored 30 points and was 8-for-12 on 3-pointers.
Marshall or Richard Stockton for the championship Saturday.
