NEW YORK (AP) -All this season’s Big East tournament needs to match last year’s edition is two big quarterfinal upsets, one of which goes on for six overtimes, a school winning the title for the first time and three teams going on to be No. 1 seeds in the NCAA tournament.
Don’t know about any really long games coming up again, and three No. 1 seeds would be a stretch, but the way things have gone in the Big East this season, anything’s possible.
The 31st Big East tournament gets under way Tuesday with South Florida, the biggest surprise of the season and the No. 9 seed, facing DePaul, which managed one conference win.
It will end Saturday night. That’s about the only sure thing about the 16-team extravaganza.
