 SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -Davis Baker had four 3-pointers and 25 points as Southern Utah beat IUPUI 53-48 Sunday in the first round of the Summit League tournament.
The Thunderbirds (11-19) advance to play top-seeded North Dakota State in Monday's semifinals. The Summit tournament winner receives an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament field.
Baker was 9-for-16 from the field, and Southern Utah shot 48 percent. Tyler Quinney had 17 points and nine rebounds.
The Thunderbirds trailed 26-25 at the half but took the lead for good at 42-40 on Davis' jumper with 7:42 remaining.
IUPUI (16-14) got as close as one point down the stretch but never tied the game.
Gary Patterson and Jon Avery led the Jaguars with 12 points and Robert Glenn added 10.
