MACON, Ga. (AP) -Justin Tubbs scored 18 points off the bench, and East Tennessee State kept its longest winning streak of the season going with a 72-66 victory over Mercer on Saturday in the Atlantic Sun tournament title game.
Tommy Hubbard added 14 points and Micah Williams had 13 for the Bucs (20-14), who are headed back to the NCAA tournament after winning the conference title last season. They were playing in their third Atlantic Sun championship game in the past four years.
They’re doing it a vastly different team, too. East Tennessee State lost three starters to graduation and one to injury from its lineup last season.
The Bucs shot 48.2 percent from the field to win their sixth straight game, while Mercer (16-17) lost in its first championship game appearance since 1996.
