EL PASO, Texas (AP) – UTEP coach Tim Floyd has met with USC athletic director Pat Haden about returning to his old job coaching the Trojans.
UTEP athletic director Bob Stull said Tuesday that Haden contacted him six weeks ago about meeting with Floyd, and that the meeting took place.
Floyd became UTEP’s coach in 2010 after resigning from USC under accusations that he improperly recruited star O.J. Mayo. USC self-imposed sanctions on the basketball program. Mayo left for the NBA after one season.
Stull says that Floyd “has always indicated to me that he is happy working at UTEP, and until he tells me otherwise he is our coach.”
A UTEP spokesman said Floyd would answer questions after the Miners’ game Tuesday against Memphis.
