SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) – Even with a postseason ban looming, Syracuse isn’t about to throw in the towel.
Syracuse is facing the reality that its season will end March 7 at North Carolina State, following a self-imposed ban while the NCAA investigates possible academic violations. The Orange will not participate in any postseason play, not even in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.
Syracuse (18-10, 9-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) has responded well since knowing it won’t go to any playoffs.
The Orange defeated two top-12 programs – Louisville at home and Notre Dame on the road – in a six-day span.
The university is awaiting the results of an NCAA investigation into its athletic department and a decision is imminent from the NCAA Committee on Infractions.
Boeheim said this week in a radio interview that even if he had nothing to do with any violation, he would accept punishment if that was allowed.
