INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Butler coach Brad Stevens left Saturday’s game against Loyola at halftime because his eyes were irritated.
School spokesman Jim McGrath said Stevens went to see an eye doctor. Assistant coach Matthew Graves coached the team during the second half as Butler went on to defeat Loyola 63-56 to clinch a share of the Horizon League regular-season title and earn of two byes in the conference tournament.
Butler (21-9, 13-5) will need to win two games to claim the tournament title and the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA tournament just one season after losing to Duke in the national championship game.
McGrath did not have an immediate update following the game about Stevens’ condition.
