NEW YORK (AP) – Ricky Cadell scored 24 points and Akeem Bennett added 22 to help St. Francis (N.Y.) overcome a late deficit to beat Wagner 77-73 on Saturday.
The Red Flash (13-14, 8-8 Northeast Conference) trailed 67-61 with 2:30 left in the game after Wagner’s Tyler Murray had a three-point play. St. Francis followed with an 8-2 run in just over a minute span, tying the game at 69-all on Travis Nichols’ 3-pointer.
Nichols, who finished with eight points, broke the tie on a layup with 53 seconds left then Cadell followed with a three-point play and a free throw to give the Red Flash a 75-69 advantage.
The Seahawks (13-14, 9-7), who lost their second in a row, pulled no closer than three points.
Murray led Wagner with 18 points, Chris Martin and Orlando Parker each had 14 points, and Josh Thompson added 10 points. Murray and Latif Rivers each had a game-high six turnovers.
