CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -North Carolina coach Roy Williams said he expects a decision this week on whether freshman 7-footer Tyler Zeller will return from injury or take a redshirt.
Zeller broke his left wrist late in the win against Kentucky on Nov. 18. He had surgery the next day and was expected to miss the rest of the season, but recently returned to limited practice.
Williams said Monday he had a conference call with Zeller and his parents to discuss his future.
Zeller’s return would bolster third-ranked North Carolina’s depth, which has taken a hit after losing Marcus Ginyard to injury and reserve Will Graves to suspension.
Zeller started the first two games while national player of the year Tyler Hansbrough sat out with an injury.
