ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -Cameron Stanely scored 16 points and Winthrop defeated Presbyterian 50-47 on Saturday.
The Eagles (7-18, 6-9 Big South Conference) outscored Presbyterian (10-15, 7-7) 26-23 in the second half, breaking a 24-24 tie at halftime.
Winthrop shot 43.5 percent from the field (10 of 23) in the second half, compared to 29.2 percent shooting (7 of 24) in the frame by the Blue Hose.
Justin Burton added 13 points and six assists for the Eagles, and George Valentine chipped in two points.
The Blue Hose were led by Al’Lonzo Coleman with 20 points and 16 rebounds.
The Eagles scored 14 points of 12 Presbyterian turnovers, picking up 20 points off the bench.
Winthrop defeated Presbyterian for the second time this season after winning 54-53 in overtime on Jan. 10.
