NEW YORK (AP) -The 1984-85 St. John’s team, the school’s last to reach a Final Four, is being honored at Madison Square Garden.
The team that featured future first-round NBA draft picks Chris Mullin, Walter Berry, Mark Jackson and Bill Wennington, along with Hall of Fame coach Lou Carnesecca, will be recognized at halftime of Thursday night’s game between the Red Storm and Louisville.
Compiling a record of 31-4, with three of the losses to Georgetown, the team was the last from St. John’s to reach No. 1 in The Associated Press’ college basketball poll. It was one of three teams from the fledgling Big East to reach the Final Four that year, along with Georgetown and eventual national champion Villanova.
