SAN DIEGO (AP) – The best start in school history dented by a tough loss at No. 9 BYU, the fourth-ranked San Diego State Aztecs are vowing to start another winning streak.
That chance starts Saturday when the Aztecs (20-1, 5-1 Mountain West Conference) host the lowly Wyoming Cowboys (8-12, 1-5).
Coach Steve Fisher and his key players say the Aztecs need to get past a loss in which they allowed Jimmer Fredette to score 43 points. Fisher says SDSU needs to show the “toughness, conviction and passion” that it has up to this point.
Guard D.J. Gay says the 71-58 loss to the Cougars on Wednesday night shows that the Aztecs have room for improvement.
