LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Louisville coach Rick Pitino divides the grueling 18-game Big East schedule into three-game segments so that his team doesn’t get caught looking too far ahead.
The 23rd-ranked Cardinals (15-4, 4-2 Big East) have done pretty well so far, going 2-1 in each of the first two segments on the schedule. The task, however, grows much more difficult over the next week.
Louisville begins a grueling six-day stretch on Wednesday against West Virginia (13-5, 4-2), followed by road games at No. 5 Connecticut and No. 21 Georgetown.
Pitino says the Cardinals are upbeat despite a disappointing loss at Providence on Saturday and that the team is very happy to be in the upper half of the Big East a third of the way through the conference season.
