TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) – Julius Brown scored 28 points and sank four key free throws in the final 18 seconds to lead Toledo to a 71-67 win over Bowling Green on Saturday night.
Brown shot 8 of 15 from the floor, including three 3-pointers, and finished 9 for 10 from the foul line. Justin Drummond contributed 18 points and nine rebounds and Nathan Boothe scored 12 as Toledo (11-8, 3-3 Mid-American) snapped a two-game skid.
Trailing by a point midway through the second half, Toledo pulled away with an 8-0 burst that included a pair of layups from Brown to make it 57-50 with 7:48 left. Bowling Green (12-5, 4-2) cut the margin to two with Jovan Austin’s layup that made it 67-65 with 22 seconds left, but Brown cemented the win with four straight free throws down the stretch.
Richaun Holmes led Bowling Green with 14 points, while Austin finished with 13.
