BALTIMORE (AP) -Jamal Barney scored 17 points and Loyola of Maryland used a 12-2 second-half run to defeat Saint Peter’s 57-56 on Thursday night for its fourth straight victory.
Marquis Sullivan hit a 3-pointer with 8:35 left, wiping out a 43-40 lead and igniting the decisive burst.
The Greyhounds (9-12, 4-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) got six points from Barney and five from Brett Harvey during the surge and never trailed again.
Nick Leon scored 16 points, Akeem Gooding 14 and Wesley Jenkins 12 for the Peacocks (5-14, 2-7), who have lost three straight and seven of eight.
After Gooding’s layup got the Peacocks within 57-56 with 7.5 seconds left, Barney missed a pair of free throws with 4.5 seconds to go. Ryan Bacon’s 35-foot heave at the buzzer bounced off the iron.
Harvey had 11 points for Loyola, which committed 18 turnovers.
