 CHICAGO (AP) -John Cantrell scored 17 points, including six rebounds, to lead Chicago State to a 79-62 victory over winless New Jersey Tech Saturday afternoon.
Carl Montgomery added 14 points, including eight rebounds, and Walton Tawrence came off the bench to score 13 points, including five free throws, for the Cougars (7-14). Mike Wilson chipped in 10 points and had seven assists and five free throws for Chicago State.
The Cougars led 38-27 at the half in a game that featured only three lead changes.
But the Highlanders (0-20) outshot the Cougars on 3-pointers with 7-of-20, or 35 percent, compared with Chicago State's 2-for-22, or 9 percent.
Nesho Milosevic scored a game-high 20 points with ten rebounds for the Highlanders. Kraig Peters, who added 15 points, was the only other New Jersey player in double digits. He also had two 3-pointers and six assists. Jheryl Wilson also had six assists.
