BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) – Indiana coach Tom Crean says sophomore guard Maurice Creek will have surgery Thursday on his injured right knee.
Creek was diagnosed with a stress fracture in the kneecap, sustained after making a layup with less than 2 minutes to go in Saturday’s 80-61 victory over Michigan. He is out indefinitely. A year ago, Creek missed the second half of the season with a fractured left kneecap.
Crean confirmed that surgery had been scheduled on his Twitter account.
Creek has not spoken with reporters since Crean announced the injury on Monday night’s radio show, but Creek did thank fans on his Twitter page for their support.
Creek started 13 of 18 games this season and was averaging 8.3 points per game.
