WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) -Daniel Fountain had five 3-pointers and 23 points to lead UNC Wilmington to an 81-68 victory over Towson on Wednesday night.
Fountain had 19 of his points in the opening half while Vladimir Kuljanin added 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Seahawks (10-8, 3-3 Colonial Athletic Association).
Fountain was 5-of-5 from behind the arc and hit all four of his foul shots.
Towson started quickly, taking a 20-9 lead less than nine minutes in after Tony Durant’s 3-pointer. However, UNC Asheville outscored the Tigers 37-14 the rest of the way and was comfortably ahead by 12 points at the break.
Fountain was a big part of the surge, with all his first-half points coming in that stretch.
Towson (6-10, 2-4) was led by Junior Hairsston with 17 points. C.C. Williams and Josh Thornton had 16 points each for the Tigers.
