INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – IUPUI coach Ron Hunter will change his style on Saturday.
Instead of stomping around and kicking scorer’s tables in his dress shoes, Hunter will tone done his act and go barefoot against South Dakota State.
It’s Hunter’s fourth annual shoeless home game in Indianapolis. This year the North Carolina-based charity with which he works, Samaritan’s Feet, is expanding its Martin Luther King Jr. holiday work to 12 cities. Last year, volunteers washed the feet and handed out shoes to impoverished children in Indianapolis.
Hunter hopes to collect 150,000 pairs of shoes this year, some to be handed out to children in Houston during the Final Four.
