FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Arkansas opened Southeastern Conference play on the road with a 56-53 loss at LSU on Wednesday.
It was a familiar feeling for the Razorbacks (11-4, 1-1), who haven’t had a winning road record in the SEC since they won finished as national runners-up under then coach Nolan Richardson during the 1994-95 season.
Arkansas is 4-21 on the road in conference play under coach John Pelphrey. For the Razorbacks to reach their goal of returning to the NCAA tournament for the first time in three seasons, they’ll have to improve on that mark this season.
Fortunately for Arkansas, it is 10-0 at home this season. That record will be put to the test on Saturday when the Razorbacks host Alabama (10-6, 2-0), which won at Mississippi State last weekend.
