FSU True Test

No. 1 Florida looks to wrap up its regular season with a win over in-state rival Florida State on Saturday, when the two teams meet at 3:30PM ET from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Bet Florida State at Florida
Florida is 11-0 this season and 5-5 against the point spread odds. The Gators have failed to cover the spread in two of their last three and four of their last six. Florida has won five straight over the Seminoles.

Florida State is 6-5 this season and 3-8 against the spread. The Seminoles have won four of their last five and covered the points spread odds in just one of their last four games.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have made Florida 24.5-point home favorites over Florida State on Saturday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 56.

Florida is scoring 36.5 points per-game this season thanks to a running game that posts just under 230 yards per-game. Tim Tebow has thrown for 1,945 yards and 14 touchdowns while rushing for 706 yards and 11 scores. The Gators have been able to have a balanced attack behind Tebow, but Florida would prefer to run the ball down the field. The Seminoles are allowing 30.2 points per-game and 194 rushing yards per-game.

The Gators have one of the top defenses in the country, allowing just 9.8 points and 229.8 yards per-game. Florida State has posted 31.6 points and 434.7 yards per-game on offense. Christian Ponder has thrown for 2,717 yards and 14 touchdowns this season with seven interceptions, but Ponder will need Jermaine Thomas to have some success running the ball on Saturday for Florida State to win. Ponder can’t do it all himself, though he will likely have to to even cover.

The key to this game will come down to Florida State’s ability to score and establish the run. Ponder is a playmaker, but without a running game, Florida will be able to easily defend against the pass. If Thomas can get going early for the Seminoles, they should have a great chance to cover the point spread odds. Otherwise, look for Florida to roll.
