HOOVER, Ala. (AP) – In his third season at Mississippi State, coach Dan Mullen said his goal is to “relentlessly pursue” a Southeastern Conference championship.
A couple years ago, that would have seemed unrealistic. Not anymore.
The Bulldogs enter the fall with their highest expectations in more than a decade after a renaissance season that included a 9-4 record, national ranking and a dominating victory over Michigan in the Gator Bowl.
Now Mullen says MSU has the talent to make the SEC championship game.
Mississippi State returns several key starters, including quarterback Chris Relf and running back Vick Ballard, who led a surprisingly potent offense. But the Bulldogs do have some holes, including replacing all three starting linebackers.
