KU Slips Past Davidson

And then there were ones.

Four No. 1s, that is.

Kansas wore down Stephen Curry and plucky upstart Davidson with its size and strength, holding on for a 59-57 victory Sunday that put all four No. 1 seeds into the Final Four for the first time.

Tigers Crush Longhorns

The freshman from Chicago who wears No. 23 and soars all over the court just finished getting Memphis into the Final Four when fans began chanting ``One more year!''

Then Derrick Rose picked up his South Regional MVP award, clipped a piece of the net and called his mom to share the moment. He kept it brief, though, because he didn't want his teammates to see him cry.

It might be the only thing they've never seen him do.

Driving, dishing and dunking, going above the rim for rebounds and flying around to block shots, Rose led Memphis past Texas 85-67 Sunday for its first trip to the Final Four since 1985.

South Final

This is it, Memphis. Your big chance.

To prove you're not an upset waiting to happen. To make up for losses in the regional final the last two years.

To declare Derrick Rose the best point guard in the land. To show that free throws are for getting into pickup games at the YMCA, not winning NCAA tournament games.

All the top-seeded Tigers have to do is beat second-seeded Texas in the South Regional final Sunday and they'll be off to the Final Four, forcing everyone to acknowledge that John Calipari's one-loss team is as good as they keep saying they are.

Midwest Final

OK, so the entire country now knows every last little detail about Stephen Curry, the sweet-shooting guard who's got double-digit Davidson one game away from the Final Four.

But Curry didn't get the Wildcats this far all by himself. There's also Jason Richards, the sublime point guard who can shoot it as well as he sets it up. There's Andrew Lovedale, a big guy with a feathery touch. There's Max Paulhus Gosselin, who actually thrives on setting screens. And on and on.

Lose track of any of them, and Kansas is in for a long day Sunday, followed by an equally uncomfortable offseason.

West Regional Final

Xavier forward C.J. Anderson remembers the first time he played against Drew Lavender, in a 16-and-under AAU tournament in Ohio.

``That's when I was like, 'Who is this little guy?' because he was scoring a lot of points,'' Anderson said Friday.

Lavender and Anderson eventually became teammates at third-seeded Xavier, which plays top-seeded UCLA (34-3) in the NCAA's West Regional final on Saturday. Lavender is a big reason the Musketeers (30-6) are one victory away from making their first trip to the Final Four.
