CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – The Hornets have assigned forward Jeffery Taylor to the Austin Spurs of the NBA D-League.
The team announced the news in a press release Sunday.
Taylor missed the first 24 games of the season while serving a league-imposed suspension following his role in a domestic assault case. He has seen some spot duty for the Hornets since returning from the suspension, but has not broken into the team’s rotation.
The cited the flexible assignment rule in making the move. The rule was used by the Hornets because the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the Hornets’ D-League affiliate, had two NBA ”wing” players on assignment at the time the Hornets initiated Taylor’s assignment to the D-League.
General manager Rich Cho says ”we think that Jeffery will benefit greatly by getting additional game action.”
