MILWAUKEE (AP) -Stephon Marbury will be in uniform for the New York Knicks against Milwaukee on Friday, but it remains to be seen whether he’ll actually play for the first time this season.
Marbury has been relegated to the bench all season. But the Knicks traded away three players in two separate deals earlier Friday, forcing them to dress Marbury to have eight active players.
“We have eight able bodies,” Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said before Friday’s game. “That’s what the league makes you have, so that’s what we’ll have.”
But D’Antoni didn’t say whether Marbury would play.
“I’ll sit down with him and talk, and we’ll wait until after the game to address all this,” D’Antoni said. “And you guys (the media) will have a better handle on what’s happened and I’m sure you’ll fire some questions at me and we’ll go from there. But right now, because the second trade went down, it kind of threw everybody for a little bit of a shock. And we do have eight guys ready to go.”
ate for forward Al Harrington, then sent forward Zach Randolph and guard Mardy Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers for guard Cuttino Mobley and forward Tim Thomas.
But the Knicks’ new additions might not be available to play until Tuesday’s game against Cleveland, leaving them considerably short-handed for the time being.
