WASHINGTON (AP) – Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas will miss Saturday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers because of a sore left knee.
Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said the entire team participated in a shootaround before the game. But Arenas’ injury was disclosed when the lineups were announced.
“We have just-in-case plans in place,” Jordan said when asked before the game about Arenas. “We know it’s a tough deal for him.”
Antonio Daniels will start in place of Arenas, who is averaging 22.4 points in eight games.
Arenas played 38 minutes and had 27 points in Washington’s 105-89 win over Minnesota on Friday.
Arenas, who had left knee surgery in April, has not missed a game this season.
