Carlos Powell, who was in Golden State camp, went second to the Dakota Wizards. The Albuquerque Thunderbirds then selected Darvin Ham, an eight-year NBA veteran who played on the Detroit Pistons' 2004 championship team.
Other familiar names taken in the first round of the 10-round draft included: C.J. Watson (No. 5, Rio Grande); No. 8 Jelani McCoy (No. 8, Los Angeles); Kevin Kruger (No. 10, Utah) and Kevin Pittsnogle (No. 12, Austin).
