NEW YORK (AP) -Eddie Gill, who has played for four NBA teams, was chosen by the Colorado 14ers on Thursday night with the first pick in the NBA Development League draft.
Gill was among a number of the 13 players taken in the first round who spent time with NBA clubs during the preseason. The guard was with the New Jersey Nets, and also has played for Memphis, Portland and Indiana.
Carlos Powell, who was in Golden State camp, went second to the Dakota Wizards. The Albuquerque Thunderbirds then selected Darvin Ham, an eight-year NBA veteran who played on the Detroit Pistons’ 2004 championship team.
Other familiar names taken in the first round of the 10-round draft included: C.J. Watson (No. 5, Rio Grande); No. 8 Jelani McCoy (No. 8, Los Angeles); Kevin Kruger (No. 10, Utah) and Kevin Pittsnogle (No. 12, Austin).
Training camps open Nov. 11 and the D-League regular season begins Nov. 23.
