MIAMI (AP) – LeBron James gets his first championship ring, the Boston Celtics get their first look at Ray Allen in a Miami Heat uniform, and the Eastern Conference rivals go head-to-head in their first game of the season.
Otherwise, not much is happening in Miami on Tuesday night.
It’s not the first game on the NBA schedule – Washington at Cleveland starts an hour before Celtics-Heat – but this matchup is sure to make the first big splash of the season. Miami and Boston have met in each of the last three postseasons, and the two clubs could vie for East supremacy again next spring.
Still, both teams preached the same mantra on Monday, insisting this star-studded opener is only one of 82 games, no more, no less.
