CLEVELAND (AP) -The Cavaliers released forward Ronald Dupree on Thursday and gave their final roster spot to forward Jawad Williams, a Cleveland native.
The 6-foot-9 Williams averaged 5.5 points in four exhibition games with the Cavs. The former Lakewood St. Edward star won a national title while at North Carolina. He beat out five other free agents to make the team.
The 25-year-old Williams was helped by rookie Darnell Jackson breaking his wrist. Jackson is expected to be sidelined for a month.
Dupree averaged 6.5 points in four preseason games.
The Cavs also kept free-agent forward Tarence Kinsey, who played in Turkey last season.
