LAS VEGAS (AP) – The owner of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, whose family owns the Sacramento Kings, says he spent a night in jail after being arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
Police said Monday that 46-year-old George Maloof Jr. was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Saturday near Spanish Trail Country Club, where he lives.
Maloof told The Associated Press he was driving home with his assistant from a friend’s wedding about six miles away.
He says he had four beers and his blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.086 percent, just over the legal limit.
Police say Maloof was speeding and driving without a valid license or proof of insurance.
Maloof says he was released from jail Sunday morning.
