MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The London Olympics weren’t all fun and games for Kevin Love.
Sure, the Minnesota Timberwolves star got to see the sights, play a crucial role on the best team in the world and bring home a gold medal. But in between games, he took plenty of grief from his hyper competitive U.S. teammates. Love was the only NBA player on the roster without a playoff appearance, and he heard about it all summer long.
Despite the lack of team success in his first four seasons with the Wolves, Love pushed to get the maximum five-year contract extension last January. The Wolves gave him a four-year, $60 million deal with an opt-out after three seasons.
Love says the additions made in the offseason have helped him move past the disappointment.
