MIAMI (AP) – Dwyane Wade is signing with Chinese sportswear provider Li-Ning, and the Miami Heat guard tells The Associated Press that this will be the final sneaker deal of his playing career.
The two-time NBA champion gets his own brand – called Wade – and will play a large role in design elements and selection of future brand endorsers.
The deal is to be announced Wednesday in Beijing, where the Heat are part of this week’s NBA China Games tour.
Wade spent his first six seasons in Converse apparel, then the last three wearing Jordan Brand. His debut in Li-Ning is expected Thursday, when the Heat play a preseason game in Beijing against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Wade also hopes to play Sunday when the Heat and Clippers meet again in Shanghai.
